Use cases

Scenario: Cloud Instance Creation.

A user in an organization logs a Service Request (SR) to create a Cloud Instance on AWS or Azure. The Service Automation Workflow kicks in, using skills to smoothly set up the Cloud Instance. For security and compliance, it communicates with tools like Ansible, Chef, or SaltStack via API Post. The workflow triggers a POST method to gather details and initiate security measures. Once completed, the information goes back to Service Automation, updating the SR with essential details. This streamlined process, covering SR initiation, Cloud Instance setup, security, and documentation, demonstrates an efficient and automated approach to managing cloud infrastructure.

Scenario: HRMS Contact Details Update

Jane, an employee, is looking to update her contact details in the company’s Human Resource Management System (HRMS). She logs a service request for the modification. Once the request is submitted, the Service Automation Workflow activates in response to the chosen catalog. The relevant skills in the Automation workflow commence, initiating the update of Jane’s details in the HRMS. Using a POST method with API endpoints, the Service Automation workflow triggers the HRMS update according to the catalog specifications. After the update, the service request automatically reflects the latest details through the API response. The Service Automation Workflow ensures a smooth, automated process, simplifying Jane’s contact update.

Scenario: Reserve IP Reservation and DNS Record Creation on IPAM

Mark, an IT administrator, submits a service request for IP address reservation and DNS record creation. The Service Automation Workflow activates upon catalog selection, utilizing skills to reserve IP addresses in IP Address Management (IPAM). API requests fetch and reserve free IP addresses. Following this, the workflow initiates a GET method to retrieve DNS zones and triggers a POST method to create DNS records. Once the process concludes, the SR is updated, and Mark receives notifications containing reserved IP addresses and DNS records. This streamlined journey is seamlessly managed within the Service Automation Workflow, demonstrating a simplified approach to IP and DNS management for Mark’s project.
